SDNF-Interface

The SDNF interface (Steel Detailing Neutral Format) serves for the exchange of CAD-data between programs being able to interpret this format. A static analysis system can of course also be transferred via the shape position.

File Format: ASCII text file with the extension *.sdf

Accessed from:
  • Backstage: File > Import > ProStructures File Types > [Export | Import] > Interface: SDNF
  • Ribbon: Steel > Interoperability > [Export | Import] > Interface: SDNF
  • Ribbon: Concrete > Interoperability > [Export | Import] > Interface: SDNF

Data Export

ProStructures can export CAD-system data for standard shapes, plates, and cuts, including polycuts, holes and slotted holes. The plane cuts are exported as polycuts.

Data Import

ProStructures can import CAD-system data for standard shapes, plates, and cuts, including polycuts, holes and slotted holes.

In addition, the static analysis system for standard shapes can be written. Depending on the settings on the “General Settings” page, it has tried to determine intermediate gussets for connections and eccentricities.

SettingDescription
Input Fields Here, you enter the variable header area data of the

SDNF-file.

Units Here, you can choose the units for the output of length and coordinate values.

In combination with a suitable exchange list it is thus possible to create a file with imperial units from a metric drawing file or vice versa.

Degree of Implementation

The implementation corresponds to standard SDNF-3.0; the following elements are supported in exchange:

Section Description
Packet 00 Head Data (Title Packet)
Packet 10 Straight Standard Shapes (Linear Member Packet)
Packet 20 Polygonal Plates (Plate Element Packet)
Packet 22 Drill Holes (Hole Element Packet)
Packet 60 Bent Shapes (Arc Member Packet)
